Jesus takes not just the sins but all the worries and concerns of our world on his shoulders. As he said sometime before all this, ‘Come to me you who labour and I will give you rest.’ In our shared shouldering of our burdens we will find rest for our souls. Many people have been overcome with worry at the thought of what we are facing today. The endless news, the counting of deaths, reinforces their panic. Some I know have come to the point of breakdown. But as we journey through this, with Christ’s help, we are never alone. Perhaps too we can pray for our government today, who were never ready for this but I believe are ordinary people doing their best.
