I was going to write about St.Mark, but I have been taking a quick look at ‘Time to Act,’ a book on Climate Action by Christians. It reminded me, for all the dreadfulness of coronavirus, we must not forget action on climate change. I hope she will not mind me quoting her but Ruth Valerio in the first chapter writes about a Tanzanian man Philip who runs a chicken farm. The rains have failed as a result of climate change, so crops fail and the food prices shoot up, the chickens die and he has no money to support his brother in his second year at medical school. ‘So the climate crisis is leading to an economic crisis, which is leading to a social crisis,’ all of which results in local suffering.
