I was up on Cunswick Scar again and came across all sorts of wild flowers. This slightly blurred purple orchid was one, but there were Bird’s Foot Trefoils, Yarrow, Cow Parsley, Red Campion (I think) and many others. As we begin this week celebrating Pope Francis’s encyclical (letter) of 2015 about preserving Creation, we can begin by appreciating the beauty of Creation that is all around us. The Pope calls on us to listen to the cry of the earth and the cry of the poor, which are two sides of one plea for help. Here in Kendal, we should never stop giving thanks that we live in such a beautiful place.
