I didn’t take this picture as when I saw one just like it on Scout Scar today I was too excited to remember to get my phone out. In fact it was others who spotted it first and though I am generally reluctant to ask people what they are looking at, it was worth it. (Apparently dog owners are wary of them up there.) Far from being threatening it shot off pretty fast. I know some people are not wild about snakes, and they do not get a good press in the Bible, but there is something amazing about the variety in creation, just on our doorstep, well, under-foot anyway, that cannot help but make you stop and give thanks for it.
